Extreme F-measure Maximization using Sparse Probability Estimates

چکیده
We consider the problem of (macro) F-measure maximization in the context of extreme multi-label classification (XMLC), i.e., multi-label classification with extremely large label spaces. We investigate several approaches based on recent results on the maximization of complex performance measures in binary classification. According to these results, the F-measure can be maximized by properly thresholding conditional class probability estimates. We show that a naı̈ve adaptation of this approach can be very costly for XMLC and propose to solve the problem by classifiers that efficiently deliver sparse probability estimates (SPEs), that is, probability estimates restricted to the most probable labels. Empirical results provide evidence for the strong practical performance of this approach.

A Framework for Final Drive Simultaneous Failure Diagnosis Based on Fuzzy Entropy and Sparse Bayesian Extreme Learning Machine
This research proposes a novel framework of final drive simultaneous failure diagnosis containing feature extraction, training paired diagnostic models, generating decision threshold, and recognizing simultaneous failure modes. In feature extraction module, adopt wavelet package transform and fuzzy entropy to reduce noise interference and extract representative features of failure mode. Use sin...
متن کاملThe survey of linkage between climate changes and desertification using extreme climate index software
Climate is the most important factor which control desertification .In order to detect climate changes in desert zones, time trend analysis is applied to extreme indices in Kashan station using extreme climate index software (ECIS). Results show significant trends in extreme indices during the past decade 1995-2004 and the pronounced warming is associated with a negative trend in cold extremes....
متن کاملA Bayesian approach to sparse channel estimation in OFDM systems
In this work, we address the problem of estimating sparse communication channels in OFDM systems in the presence of carrier frequency offset (CFO) and unknown noise variance. To this end, we consider a convex optimization problem, including a probability function, accounting for the sparse nature of the communication channel. We use the Expectation-Maximization (EM) algorithm to solve the corre...
متن کاملData Assimilation with Gaussian Mixture Models Using the Dynamically Orthogonal Field Equations. Part II: Applications
The properties and capabilities of the Gaussian Mixture Model–Dynamically Orthogonal filter (GMMDO) are assessed and exemplified by applications to two dynamical systems: 1) the double well diffusion and 2) sudden expansion flows; both of which admit far-from-Gaussian statistics. The former test case, or twin experiment, validates the use of the Expectation-Maximization (EM) algorithm and Bayes...
متن کاملOn filtering and estimation of a threshold stochastic volatility model
We derive a nonlinear filter and the corresponding filter-based estimates for a threshold autoregressive stochastic volatility, (TARSV), model. Using the technique of a reference probability measure, we derive a nonlinear filter for the hidden volatility and related quantities. The filter-based estimates for the unknown parameters are then obtained from the EM algorithm.
